 One controversy that has been “re-cycled” recently is how parents decide to immunize their children or to forgo the usual immunization schedules and thereby risk disease. The controversy arose with the publication of a 1998, now-discredited report about a link between immunizations and autism. Recently, the “re-cycling” of the bogus information was made with the 2014-15 outbreak of measles beginning in California. The Centers for Disease Control have specific recommendations for vaccines and immunizations for children up to age 6. What are some of the important points that parents should consider in making these decisions in view of the needs of their children and society in general?
