In today’s increasingly changing environment it is important for the nurses to engage themselves in furthering their education and nursing skills for the provision of quality and enhanced medical services (Cherry & Jacob, 2016). One of the many ways to increase this medical knowledge is through associating oneself with activities that have the same goals for example through attending seminar meetings and conference meetings. Through these methods, one can connect with fellow nurses from all over the country and globally. In addition to that, one can gain insight on what the healthcare system entails and further familiarize themselves with the expectations of the system.
During my nursing study, I had the privilege of attending some seminars all in the aim of enhancing and sharpening the little skills that I had. I believe that through attending these workshops, I was able to network with fellow nurses from across all the fields in the healthcare system and saw their different approach methods to the similar cases that I face and further enhanced my relationship with them. In addition to that, the multiple questions regarding various aspects of the healthcare system I had were addressed appropriately by the experts with a proven track record.
I believe that nursing conferences offer one with the opportunity to learn about several educational advancements in one place. Through the presentations made in the seminar, I was able to familiarize myself with the latest advancements in the latest technology and train on new equipment. Seminars also helped advance my career, thereby increasing my potential to earn revenue and make more money. Through the skills, I acquired in technology, put me ahead in the nursing pack whereby, I was in a position to get promoted in my nursing job and educate them on the skills that I Acquired during the special training sessions offered in during the course.
Some of the competencies gained in attending seminars include applying informatics technology, whereby, one can communicate, mitigate errors, manage the knowledge acquired from the seminars and support the process of decision-making using the skills acquired from information technology. To add to that, one should be able to work in interdisciplinary teams to collaborate, communicate and integrate the care teams to ensure that the services offered are of high quality and at the same time reliable (Zerwekh & Garneau, 2017).
