The behavioral perspective exclusively investigates overt behaviors (i.e., behaviors that can be directly observed). While some branches of this perspective acknowledge the existence of covert behaviors, they believe that these covert behaviors are best examined in overt terms (i.e., stimulus, response, antecedents, consequences).
The social-cognitive perspective emphasizes the importance of cognitive factors (e.g., attention, motivation, self-efficacy, retention) in explaining the mind and behavior. It also believes that observational learning is one of the primary modes of learning.
